Voor mij zitten er alweer een paar weken school op. Toch leek me dit het perfecte moment voor een artikel als dit. Dit artikel staat namelijk vol met persoonlijke ervaringen over wat je nóóit moet doen op je volgende vakantie. Natuurlijk met tips hoe jij het wél beter kunt aanpakken. Enjoy!
Dingen die je beter niet kunt doen op vakantie
1. Bananen in je koelbox bewaren
Oh nee. Waarom zou je ten eerste die dingen nu wél gekoeld bewaren, en thuis niet? Maar dat was niet de reden waarom je bananen niet in de koelbox moet doen. Nee, het is erger dan dat. Want: letterlijk álles in die koelbox gaat dan naar banaan smaken. Makkelijk recept voor bananenbrood, zou je denken. Maar wij hadden dat dus op onze camping in Duitsland deze zomervakantie. En ik kan je zeggen: dat brood heb ik weggegooid.
2. Met je wc-rol onder je T-shirt over de camping heen lopen
Er was eens.. Een man op een camping die met een wc-rol naar de wc liep. Heel normaal, toch? Maar die man wilde natuurlijk niet dat wij zagen dat hij naar de wc ging. Want: stel je voor! Nou, die man had z’n wc-rol goed verstopt. Onder z’n shirt. Je zag die hele vorm van die wc-rol gewoon helemaal door het shirt heen: het zag er echt niet uit. Maar het gaat om het idee hè.
Dé tip: neem die wc-rol mee in een klein plastic tasje. Niemand die het ziet! Al weet iedereen natuurlijk al wel wat erin zit.
3. Je powerbank vergeten op vakantie
Kijk, op campings heb je niet altijd stroom. En als je stroom koopt, dan kun je niet alles binnen leggen. Dat is onhandig, want meestal – oké, altijd – is dat wat je op wilt laden iets wat niet nat mag worden 🙂 Neem dus je powerbank mee! Dan kun je je telefoon gewoon in je tent opladen. Een powerbank die lang meegaat vanwege de grote hoeveelheid mAh is een Mobisun powerbank. Anders is een een auto-oplader voor je telefoon ook heel handig.
Wat ik zelf trouwens altijd doe: mijn telefoon opladen bij iemand die een camper of caravan mee heeft. Wij gaan altijd met een grotere groep op vakantie, dus dan kan dat gewoon. Maar ik gok dat je liever niet bij een vreemde Fransman of Duitser aanklopt om in je allerbeste Frans, Engels of Duits te gaan vragen of je je dure telefoon daar mag opladen 😉
4. De boot missen (op een paar minuten na)
Zoals ik al zei: altijd als wij op vakantie gaan, gaan we met een hele groep. Zo ook tijdens onze vakantie in Engeland. Alleen was er toen iemand die autopech had.. Meerdere mensen waren bij die persoon gebleven en uiteindelijk was de auto weer gemaakt. Er was alleen één ding: die mensen kwamen dus nét te laat bij de boot aan. Ze waren niet enorm laat, maar gewoon nét niet op tijd. We konden ze zelfs uitzwaaien vanaf de boot, haha! Best wel erg eigenlijk, als je net een paar minuten te laat bent.
Die autovakantie in Engeland was overigens wel héél leuk! Zo’n English breakfast is echt geweldig en dat zou ik iedere dag wel willen eten. En de fish and chips, niet te vergeten. Mocht je zelf een autovakantie naar Engeland willen, dan vind je op de website van DFDS er een heleboel informatie over. Via die site is het ook mogelijk om je vakantie te boeken.
5. Zonder bikini gaan douchen als er alleen een douchegordijn is
Dat deed ik dus in Polen. Daar waren geen douchedeurtjes, alleen gordijnen. Heel raar. Maar goed, ik was eigenwijs en ging gewoon zonder bikini. Iedereen was te vertrouwen en niemand trekt natuurlijk zomaar een douchegordijn opzij. Wat er gebeurde? MIJN DOUCHEGORDIJN VIEL NAAR BENEDEN. Gelukkig konden ik en de Poolse vrouw die dat ding weer ophing erom lachen. (zie je het al voor je, hoe ik, met m’n rug naar die vrouw, alsnog probeerde mee te helpen om achter me dat douchegordijn weer op te hangen? Het ergste was dat ik ook niet even snel m’n handdoek kon pakken).
En blijkbaar was ik niet de eerste waarbij dit gebeurde. Iemand anders van onze groep had dit ook meegemaakt! Wat bleek? Als je je plastic tas met daarin je handdoek, toilettas en meer van dat soort dingen aan de bovenste stang van het douchegordijn ophing, werd het te zwaar. Vandaar dat dan alles viel! Denk dus goed na bij dit soort dingen of ga gewoon douchen met je bikini aan.
6. Kebab eten op vakantie
In 2016 was ik op vakantie naar Frankrijk. We waren daar een week. We gingen (met een deel van de groep) eten in een café. De meesten hadden kebab op. Al snel werd iedereen er ziek van: we hadden voedselvergiftiging. Ik schreef zelfs een artikel over het feit dat ik nooit meer kebab zou eten. Ik moet er niet aan denken om nog eens zo ziek te worden! Wel eet ik af en toe nog shoarma bij een restaurantje waar ik vaker kom, maar dat is dan de enige plek waar ik het nog eet. Kijk dus goed uit met dit soort eten in kleine cafés.
7. Een douchemuntenverzameling beginnen
Je hebt betaald voor die dingen, dus beter geef je ze aan het einde van je vakantie terug als je de camping verlaat. Dat scheelt echt. Oké: wij kregen ooit gratis douchemunten. En er bleven er een paar over die we mee naar huis namen. Zie je onze douchemuntenverzameling al groeien? Wat een lang woord, trouwens.
Achteraf bleek een andere camping dezelfde munten te hebben, maar wij hadden ze toen niet mee. Dus als je douchemunten overhebt: neem ze weer mee op vakantie! Maar het beste is om ze weer in te leveren bij de camping als je vertrekt – als je dat niet vergeet natuurlijk.
8. Witte schoenen meenemen op vakantie
Of überhaupt iets wits. Gewoon niet doen. Ik had dan wel geen witte schoenen mee, maar wel een witte pet. Die komt natuurlijk niet meteen terecht in de modder zoals dat bij schoenen gebeurt, máár hij is wel verkleurd door de regen. Het leek wel een koffievlek wat er nu op m’n witte Adidas pet zit. Ach ja, ik wilde toch deze zwarte gaan kopen. Goed excuus!
