Rome dag 1 | Eerste keer vliegen, ’s nachts door Rome lopen & rare mensen?
Dit is het eerste artikel over mijn vakantie in Rome! Toen ik begon met het schrijven van de artikelen over Rome, besefte ik pas echt hoeveel we hebben gedaan en meegemaakt in Rome. En hoeveel we eigenlijk alweer vergeten zijn – oké, dat zijn alleen de kleine dingen – en hoe leuk het eigenlijk is dat alles wat ik nu nog weet, voor altijd op mijn blog staat. Hoe leuk is het dat ik later al mijn reizen kan teruglezen op mijn blog? Oké, genoeg nagedacht over later. Laten we nu maar teruggaan naar de dag van vertrek, iets meer dan een week terug. Wat een prachtig bruggetje is dit zeg, ik kan echt het nieuws gaan presenteren. (voor als je ‘m niet snapt: bij het nieuws hebben ze echt de gekste bruggetjes om van het nieuws naar het weer te gaan. Dit bruggetje is wel echt geweldig)
Dag 1 in Rome: woensdag 22 februari
De dag waarop we naar Rome gingen, hoefden we pas om 12:30 op school te verzamelen. De lessen van die dag hoefden we gelukkig niet te volgen. Eerst gingen we met de bus naar het vliegveld van Eindhoven. Ik had nog nooit gevlogen en eerlijk gezegd vond ik het best spannend. Het viel uiteindelijk best mee en eigenlijk vond ik het vliegen juist heel leuk. M’n oren gingen gelukkig niet echt pijn doen, dat viel dus ook mee. Wel is kauwgom in het vliegtuig natuurlijk altijd aan te raden.
We mochten trouwens alleen handbagage meenemen, maar alles paste in mijn koffer gelukkig. Wel moest mijn handbagage koffer mee het ruim in omdat er niet genoeg plek meer was in de cabine. Daarom haalde ik nog even snel mijn camera uit mijn koffer, want je weet maar nooit. We vlogen trouwens met Ryanair, en ze deden daar gelukkig niet moeilijk over. Verder was het vliegtuig zo geboekt dat we (op de heenweg) met vrienden bij elkaar konden zitten. En natuurlijk vroeg ik steeds of ik foto’s kon maken met Priscilla’s telefoon, aangezien de mijne niet echt mooie foto’s maakt. Ja, ik had m’n camera kunnen pakken, maar dat vond ik een beetje overdreven, haha!
Ik vond het vliegen dus echt heel leuk! Eerst zag je de huizen steeds kleiner worden, vervolgens ging je door de wolken heen en zag je een tijd lang helemaal niks omdat alles wit was. De foto’s waarbij je net door de wolken heen gaat zijn natuurlijk het mooist! En de bergen moesten natuurlijk ook op de foto toen we daar overheen vlogen.
Aankomst in Rome!
Rond 18:00 uur kwamen we aan in Rome. Het ophalen van de koffers duurde niet heel lang, en vanaf het vliegveld gingen we met de bus naar de metro. Aangekomen bij het metrostation moesten er eerst voor iedereen buskaarten gekocht worden. Voor €24 konden we de hele week reizen met de metro & de bus. Dat is echt handig! Dat is ook echt slim om zelf ook te kopen als je naar Rome gaat. We kwamen aan op Termini en liepen toen naar het hostel. Daar lieten we onze koffers achter, om vervolgens naar een restaurant te gaan.
Rare mensen?
Het was al redelijk laat toen we naar het restaurant gingen. We liepen weer vanaf het hostel naar de bushalte. Dicht bij het hostel was dus zo’n plek waar redelijk aparte mensen – om het zo maar even te noemen – rondhingen. We liepen dus langs die mensen en je hoorde iemand al ‘very very beautiful’ roepen. Ja, echt, ik had ook zoiets van ‘waaaauw’. Ook zaten ze blijkbaar aan mensen, want Priscilla liep langs iemand die met zijn hand langs haar arm streek. Daar zijn we dus de rest van de week niet meer langs gelopen, misschien nog maar twee keer. En blijkbaar zongen ze ook, haha. En later die week kreeg iemand hasj aangeboden op die plek – natuurlijk zei hij nee – en dat laat wel zien dat het aparte mensen waren daar. Maar goed, je kunt dat soort mensen het beste gewoon negeren.
Eindelijk avondeten
Met de bus gingen we naar Polese, een restaurant waar we wel 3 keer zijn geweest. Een leraar die ook mee ging komt daar al sinds 1968! Inmiddels had iedereen honger, omdat niemand erop had gerekend dat we zo laat zouden eten. We aten namelijk na 9 uur, terwijl ikzelf al honger had in het vliegtuig, wat rond 5 uur was. Gelukkig was de pizza wel erg lekker! Hij was wel dun, waardoor hij jammer genoeg niet erg vulde.
De avond(/nacht)wandeling door Rome
Na ons avondeten bij Polese, zouden we nog door Rome gaan lopen. Ik vond het eigenlijk wel leuk dat we nog na 12 uur in Rome te vinden waren. Alles was lekker rustig. Ohja, je hebt ’s nachts geen rijen bij ijssalons. Dat is het belangrijkste hè? Nadat we een tijdje hadden gelopen, aten we een ijsje bij een soort cocktail bar. Tenminste, dat is wat ik erin zag, haha! Ik nam de smaken tiramisu (heel lekker!), aardbeien en nog iets. Dat laatste weet ik echt niet meer, maar dat is verder ook niet heel belangrijk. Ik wilde eerst bosvruchtenijs, maar het ging mis op de een of andere manier. Uiteindelijk waren we om 00:45 terug omdat we nog anderhalf of twee uur door Rome hadden gelopen. De avondwandeling werd dus meer een nachtwandeling.
Hoewel dag 1 misschien niet heel interessant was om over te schrijven, was het wel erg leuk allemaal! En over dag 2 heb ik wel enorm veel te vertellen, o.a. over hoe we iets heel grappigs meemaakten met een straatverkoper en hoe Lisa & ik verdwaalden terwijl het al bijna donker was én terwijl we eigenlijk met minstens 3 personen door Rome moesten lopen. Het zal vast een lang artikel worden, aangezien dit artikel over dit halve dagje al zo’n 900 woorden lang is.
