Je bent fan van to-do lijstjes of je bent het niet: de één vindt het juist handig om met een lijstje te werken, maar de ander kan er niet tegen. De ene keer heb je net een mooi overzicht gemaakt, maar lukt het je niet om aan je to-do lijst te beginnen, en de andere keer ben je juist wél begonnen maar is je to-do lijstje te lang en krijg je hem niet af. Tja.. er zijn nog veel meer dingen die je fout kunt doen. Maar je leert natuurlijk wel van je fouten.
Veel mensen weten niet waar ze moeten beginnen
Soms weet je niet weer waar je moet beginnen. Je hebt wel een to-do lijstje gemaakt, maar in taak nummer 1 heb je geen zin en taak nummer 2 hoeft eigenlijk over een week pas af. Zo lukt het natuurlijk nooit om productief te werken met een to-do lijstje. Mijn tip is: begin met de taak waar je het meest tegenop ziet, dan gaat de rest daarna vanzelf!
Maarja, je stelt natuurlijk niet voor niets die taak uit waar je tegenop ziet. Je kunt ook een tactiek proberen die net andersom werkt. Je begint met de leukste taak, maar deze moet niet te veel tijd in beslag nemen. Wanneer je die taak af hebt zit je als het goed is in een soort flow, waardoor het makkelijker wordt om de andere taken af te krijgen.
Je weet niet hoe je prioriteiten stelt
Als je niet weet hoe je prioriteiten stelt, dan is het lastig om te kiezen welke taak je van je to-do lijstje als eerste moet gaan doen. “Deze taak moet snel af, maar die andere duurt langer en moet de dag daarna af”. Wat moet je dan doen? Een to-do lijstje werkt dan alleen maar tegen je, want dan levert zo’n lijstje alleen maar stress op en productiever zul je er dan niet van worden. Als je echt niet weet welke taak belangrijker is, zet ze dan op volgorde van de data waarop ze af moeten zijn.
Te lang
Soms ben je juist wél productief, maar lijkt het voor jou alsof je dat niet bent. In dat geval is je to-do lijstje gewoon te lang. Kies een paar, dus niet meer dan 5, grotere taken uit om op één dag te doen en doe verder alleen maar kleinere taken. Met kleinere taken bedoel ik dingen zoals je mail kijken of nadenken over een nieuw idee voor een artikel.
Je houdt geen rekening met dingen die tussendoor komen
Je hebt je to-do lijstje gemaakt, alles staat netjes op een rijtje en je hebt er zelfs tijden bij geschreven. Opeens krijg je een mailtje waardoor je afgeleid raakt. Dat stond niet op je planning! Ruimte overlaten in je planning is daarom wel zo handig. Zorg er dus voor dat je to-do lijstje niet de hele dag in beslag neemt, maar plan extra tijd in voor de onverwachte dingen die je opeens moet doen.
Je maakt het onoverzichtelijk
To-do lijstjes zijn ervoor om een handig overzicht te krijgen. Als je een overzichtelijke to-do lijst hebt gemaakt maar er vervolgens van alles bij gaat schrijven, of dingen door gaat krassen, dan wordt het onoverzichtelijk. Dan raak je natuurlijk ook de draad kwijt. Probeer je to-do lijstje dus netjes te houden. Lukt het je niet om je lijstje overzichtelijk en netjes te houden, probeer dan de app Wunderlist eens uit! Met die app kun je heel makkelijk to-do lijstjes maken, je taken afvinken en subtaken maken.

Zelf ben ik een grote voorstander van het maken van to-do lijstjes. Ik vind ze namelijk handig en overzichtelijk. Bij mij werken ze dus wel, en daar komt zeker nog een artikel over online.
